1914 Map, Santa Barbara to Ventura Posters by shaughey

This is an enlarged print of a map from an early auto guide book published in 1914. The map shows the old road from Santa Barbara to Ventura includes Carpinteria, the Pacific coast road, and fun little photos of landmarks on the way. Notes to the traveller include, "Sand", "Curves" and "Heavy grades follow phone poles all through mountains." There is also a version of this map available with a green border. The “Hamilton’s Illustrated Auto Roadmap” book had 200 strip maps of California and included small photos of landmarks along the way. Published before the days of AAA books and guides. A fun reprint of automobile history! See gallery for more information
