In 1943 an American convoy headed to Greenland was struck by a German U-Boat. One of the vessels, the USAT Dorchester, was hit mid section and immediately started to sink. Onboard the Dorchester four US Army Chaplains consisting of a Jewish Rabbi, a Catholic Priest and two Protestant ministers helped other soldiers onto lifeboats and handed out life jackets. When the life jackets ran out the chaplains removed their own and gave them away. After the last lifeboats were away, the chaplains prayed
