Regardless of who is generally in charge of the kitchen duties in a family, there is no doubt whatsoever over who will be in utter and complete control when a barbecue is taking place. Dads have a primal need to harness fire in order to feed their brood, and barbecues address this urge very well. Territory also comes into play if another Dad should stray too close to the barbecue area and attempt to turn a burger or move a sausage. At this point the Dad will chase the interloper away and furiously turn all of the burgers and sausages as a display of strength.
