Saraswati, the goddess of Music and Poetry, Learning, and Wisdom. She plays a stringed instrument. In Tibet, she often rides on a white swan and in India on a peacock. In Tibetan, Saraswati is called Yang Chenmo, and as a musician she is called Piwa Karpo. In Mongolian she is Keleyin ukin Tegri, in Chinese she is called Tapien-ts'ai t'iennu, or Miao-yin mu, and in Japanese, Benten. Her mantra is Om Hrih Mahamayange Mahasarasvatyai namah. A female bodhisattva, buddha encouraging culture in the world and universe.
