Across the Saturn Rings Print by Space_Exploration
This SOI manoeuvre, which was approximately 90 minutes long, allowed Cassini to be captured by Saturn’s gravity and produced a highly-eccentric orbit around Saturn that is about five months long. Cassini-Huygen’s close proximity to the planet after this long decelerating burn offers a unique opportunity to observe Saturn and its rings at extremely high resolution. This illustration was produced on JPL’s solar system simulator by artist David Seal for NASA.

Across the Saturn Rings

This is a simulated view showing the spacecraft Cassini-Huygens as it performed the Saturn Orbital Insertion burn with the main engine. It shows the spacecraft just after it had just crossed the rings of Saturn and moved out of the plane of the view and to the right.

Very cool.

The rings should look elliptical
Perhaps the surface of Saturn in this picture is real. Or I'm so naive since this is just a "simulated view".
