'Admiral Benbow' Card by picklelillysdad
A pub name made famous by that great R. L Stevenson novel, Treasure Island. And this particular alehouse standing in the equally famous nautical town of Penzance, Cornwall, really looks the part. Casting your mind back two or three centuries, it is easy to imagine Blind Pugh's cane tapping on the cobblestones as he approaches the inn to deliver the dreaded 'Black Spot' to Captain Flint's old shipmate, Billy Bones. From original watercolour by Christine Hudson. (Many aspects of the beautiful county of Cornwall, including some of its pubs, feature in my apocalyptic novel, A Time To Run (Colin Hudson), now available in Kindle and eBook format).
