The Sumerian culture appeared at the dawn of human history. The Sumerian civilisation was thought to have existed between 3300 to 5000 BCE) and were the first civilisation to have an organised a government under a Chief Priest. They inhabited an area between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, called Mesopotamia, in a country called Sumer. As a fully developed society they were said to developed technologies and was organised in such a way that they were considered intellectually superior to all other societies of the time. Including metrology, "the science of measurement, embracing both experimental and theoretical determinations at any level of uncertainty in any field of science and technology" around c 4000 B.C.E., which resulted in advancing the creation of mathematics, geometry, and algebra.
