Ant Eater Antnog Mugs by antiboris
This illustration is of an Ant Eater eating some yummy antnog. The Ant eater name can be applied to Aardvark, Pangolin, Numbat, Echindna, and others. Ant eaters are native to South America. The ant eaters aren't related to Aardvarks, or most of the other animals named above, they are mistaken as being in the same family because of similarities they have, but, their similarities are because of a phenomenon known as convergent evolution. Ant eaters are marsupials, and are more closely related to sloths.
Ant eaters are nocturnal. Ant eaters eat, well, ants. Ants and termites make up its main portion of their diet. They also eat other insects, fruits and vegetable, eggs, and what else it can forage. To help facilitate eating ants and other insects, the ant eater has to move its tongue very rapidly. Some of been timed at flicking their tongue in and out at around 150 times a minute.
