Famous English writer, wit and raconteur Quentin Crisp (1908 - 1999) had the whole subject of housework in perspective. Our mug features one of his witty quotes about housework: "There is no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse." There is an illustration of a 1940s style houswife with hair curlers either side of the famous housework quotation, based on a vintage WPA poster advertising jobs for women and girls in household employment.
