The ruins of the original Wrightsville-Columbia Bridge can be seen in the foreground with the modern bridge just to the south. The original Wrightsville-Columbia bridge was one of the longest covered bridges in the world. It was burned to keep the Confederate Army from crossing the Susquehanna River in 1863.
