The flag of Armenia (or the "Armenian Tricolor") was officially adopted on August 24, 1990. It was first used by the short-lived Democratic Republic of Armenia from 1918-1920. According to the Constitution of Armenia, "red symbolises the Armenian Highland, the Armenian people's continued struggle for survival, maintenance of the Christian faith, Armenia's independence and freedom. Blue symbolises the will of the people of Armenia to live beneath peaceful skies. Orange symbolises the creative talent and hard-working nature of the people of Armenia."[
