These twin baby barn swallows are sticking their necks out trying to get some lunch. Their wide-open yellow mouths and grey-white stretched necks express eagerness in the extreme, not to say competition! They are looking out of a grey mud daub nest, attached to a brown wooden ceiling with wire netting. One little bright eye spares a look at you from the nearest chick. In the upper right portion of the image are the words, "We Want Cake!" in white lettering. Inside are the words, "Here's hoping you have a spectacular birthday (and a wonderful cake)" The photograph was taken at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge in Nisqually, WA.
