Thanks for your note
on my gallery wall. I went to graduate school in Vancouver from 1971-1976. In August, 2006, I revisited there for a day after not having seen it for 30 years. I took a panorama (it is in the Places, Travel -> Vancover product line in my gallery) from near where I lived in Kitsilano in 1976 that includes much of the same skyline as in your picture. -- Barry

Beautiful shot ...
... but I think that's Grouse Mountain (or maybe Mt. Seymour). Looks to me like you're shooting north across English Bay. You might be able to see Mount Rainier from Vancouver from a high point on a clear day, but it would be just a little bump on the horizon; it would not dominate the skyline. I do recall seeing Mount Baker from the Quad at Simon Fraser many times. But, again, it was a pretty small bump on the horizon.<br>One view that I found fascinating in winter was looking north from Granville Street. There were bright lights well above the horizon straight ahead over the street: the light ski slopes on Grouse Mountain. -- Barry
