Now this is an interesting flag: On September 23, 1810, rebels overran the Spanish garrison at Baton Rouge and unfurled the flag of the newly created West Florida Republic: a single white star on a blue field. This country endured for three months, and is almost never mentioned in the history books. (Was that a school TAX or a school LAX?) The flag reemerged during the American Civil War as the Bonnie Blue Flag. When Mississippi (part of which had been claimed by the WFR) seceded from the Union on January 9, 1861, the Bonnie Blue Flag was raised over the capitol building in Jackson as a sign of independence. Interestingly, the same design currently serves as the national flag of Somalia.
VEXILLOPHILE offers flat flags and waving, usually available with the name of the place -- often in the native language as well as English! Of course, if you'd rather leave them guessing, you can get your flags plain! So be sure to look over our designs before making your final selection!

When selecting this item on clothing, please be aware that any white parts may not appear as white on lighter fabrics (the fabric colour may show), and dark fabrics should be chosen to contrast with the design. Trust the pictures to accurately represent what you will receive.
