An Edmund Dulac painting illustration for the fairy tale called "Cinderella". In the story, Cinderella had a wicked stepmother and stepsisters. They made her do all the work around the house. In this illustration she sadly sits in the kitchen.
"She used to creep away to the chimney corner and seat herself among the cinders".
