Ma'ii (Mah-ee) Navajo for Coyote. Desert Morning - A vast change occurs in the desert when the sun disappears. Temperatures can drop as much as forty degrees. During the Spring and Fall this difference is particularly noticeable. Here, at dawn, Coyote greets Sun as it peeks over the distant eastern horizon. The chilled night air, not yet warmed by Sun, is detected in the howl of Coyote. The frost on the desert fauna will vanish shortly and Coyote will visit with Sun before seeking refuge.
