In the small Hamlet of St. Mullins, deep in the heart of Co. Carlow, stands an ancient cemetery. It is the interring place of Kings and commoners. Headstone and palques indicate burials as far back as the early 1400s. I stood at the top of the slope, next to the ruins of the Monastery, and, in gazing down the slope of the headstone and across the valley, felt an overwhelming sense of calm.
