First Kiss by Bouguereau, Vintage Victorian Angels
The First Kiss (L'Amour et Psyché, Enfants) detail (1890) by Bouguereau is a vintage Victorian mythology fine art realism painting featuring a portrait of two angels, one kissing the other on the cheek. Although the correct title of the painting is L'Amour et Psyché, Enfants, it was incorrectly titled Le Premier Baiser (The First Kiss) and the name stuck. About the artist: William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) was an academic painter and staunch traditionalist whose realistic style and mythological themes were modern interpretations of classical subjects.
