This is a photo taken in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was taken somewhere between Gatlinburg and Newfound Gap, and was in either late February or very early March. It was an extremely cold day (way up there, anyway!) and there were occasional snow flurries--which is why the sky appears white, here, I suppose. I suppose this is really the "worst" time for views in those mountains--all the winter snow is gone, for the moment at least, but the hillsides have not yet started to turn green with the spring. It looks harsh and cold and stark--but I like it, for some reason, anyway.
