adry, I couldn't disagree with you more. I think being an atheist is quite courageous and certainly requires more critical thinking than mindlessly following some amoral manmade god like a lost sheep.

JoJo, no one said this is high art. This is freedom of expression. Whether we like the expression of someone else or not is irrelevant. In America we still have the right to say it. And what can be so tacky about calling Jesus out for the dick that he really was? Read your bible. You'll see, he was pretty hateful more times than peaceful. I didn't make that up. These are quotes. How you can find bible quotes tacky is quite interesting.

thespamama, to paraphrase Jesus, "This is my ball and if you don't let me be the quarterback, I'm taking it and going home." Perhaps you could read the bible to understand and learn as opposed to cherry-picking to support your narrow-minded world-view.

Jesus said
"Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven" (Matthew 10:32-33).

hell I believe jesus lived. I believe he said things that are written in the bible. I believe since the day he was born he was told he was sent by god, he was praised by many people..... would you not believe you where sent from god if you where taught that from the day you where born? Ponder this: Why are there so many different religions, why have there been so many different ones over time, myths, legends, Greek, Roman, Maori, Aboriginal etc... Has anyone ever considered it along the same lines as languages developed to suit the needs of a particular group of isolated people and spread through the world by war, travel, and communication

I love T shirts that shake peoples' sensibilities and this one does it well. The T shirt creator has an opinion and backs it up with accepted scripture. Deal with it. People who don't let other people express their feelings, or do and then punish them, are the real dicks. Only fools try to limit what others think.

AnneFromPhilaUU, exercising your rights and speaking the truth is not a matter of taste, and being overly sensitive and delicate might dilute the message. Jesus, if he even existed, said hateful things and people need to know that.

THAT tee shirt
I don;t care how true or false or out of context the Biblical quotations may be, it is simply the most tacky and tasteless tee shirt I have ever seen. This popped up in the context of a UU bumpersticker I ordered (Standing on the side of love). UUs supposedly honor and respect other people's beliefs. No one needs to agree with OR disagree with what the shirt says, but respect and "good taste" dictate avoiding that tee shirt.

I agree, MerryMcDuff! We don't try to offend people, we're just being honest. If christians want to be offended that's their business.

I'll stop "offending" the christians when they stop trying to force their religion on me.

Blasphemy is always bad taste
Whether one believes or not, to actually want to wear something that would cause such great offence to many people is at odds with our human nature. Has anyone dared to read Benedict Groeschel's 'A Reason to Believe'? Challenging little read. I guess the Christian and Muslim customers that use this website will boycott when they spot this one.

Jesus is a dick. And all of you people saying that even though the shirts been made that jesus still loves you are morons. Grow up children and take some control over the direction of your lives, stop fucking around in a fairytale.

I think that it's worth mentioning that verses taken from the Bible really do need to be read in context to the passage it is taken from or the verses often don't make any sense. Another fact worth noting is that most of the Bible really is rather dark, it wasn't sugar-coated to make people feel better about life, that philosophy came into being with the Enlightenment, the entire purpose of Jesus coming to earth was not to say "everything's going to be alright" it was to make us fully aware of hoe badly we screwed ourselves, the consequences of our mistake and that because of God's love for us, there was still a way for us to live in Heaven with Him. Another point is that even if most historical documents (including the bible, which was written with great care by people in that time period) were written 60-80 years after Jesus' death, that's not really any different than some other historical documents written sometimes hundreds of years later that are still widely accepted today, the only reason the Bible gets crap is because it questions an individual's personal beliefs. I know that saying these things won't change your mind, and I didn't write this intending to do so, however when I hear or see someone insulting my Heavenly father, I feel the need to defend him just the same as I would my earthly father. By the way, we're not all brainwashed fools that don't know any better than to believe in something we can't see, touch, or feel, trust me, we struggle just as much as the next person with God's existence. I have chosen my own path based on research and more importantly the undeniable things that God has done in my life, I may not be able to explain everything about God, but I don't let the unexplainable overshadow the undeniable.

SIrLee's Tees - Bornagainjim is right, even though you made this shirt, Jesus still loves you. A lot. But you are really the dick.

Hey Macropus, no argument from me. Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. I think people are indoctrinated and brainwashed to NOT think or question their religion. Yes, I can't tell you how many christians pray for me and in the same breath tell me I'm going to hell. :P

Agreed
SirLee... Religion is just accepted insanity. I think it's great to admit yourself against these "moral standards" I am atheist, but saying such to a die-hard Christian can cause much trouble I've been told I'm going to Hell multiple times. Regardless, I feel some people just "believe" because they're told so. Many famous free-thinkers, including Freud and Lincoln (Even Bruce Lee) have been atheists. If religious people cannot accept the disbelief of others, they're going against their own preachings of accepting others. THIS IS ALL OPINION! NO NEED TO ARGUE! --RK

Hehe
lol you are so funny! I understand you very well, i read and i never understand those words, but man when you read closely you would understand God is talking to different types of people and cultures, there were the ones who believe but never give up things of this world, or the religious who believe there were doing all good, this Christianity way of living is just so brave, those who stand up for a strong believe of Jesus. But well..some of us just stand up for the easy, comfy way of leaving that doesn't harm nobody but our self. Jesus only defy minds to the limit, but some are to limited to understand. He must to understand us, right?
