Medicine Dance (1848) by Seth Eastman is a vintage American West fine art painting featuring a daily life scene in a Native American Indian village. The Indians are dancing around and tending to their sick people, teepees are in the background. About the artist: Captain Seth Eastman (1808-1875) and his second wife Mary Henderson Eastman (1818-1880) were instrumental in recording Native American life. He built a reputation as a major illustrator of important books published in the 1850s on the subject of "Indian Tribes of the United States.
