Faith was seen for the first time 31 years ago as a new calf., and he has been every year since them. He was last seen in late October 2008 and has not been seen during the few winter sightings of the whales. It is hoped he will return in the spring.

Hi Rebecca, Historically J Pod shows up for the season in late April or early May and K and L pods not until late May or into June. So we won't know for a while yet. The Center for Whale Research that logs and keeps the official records, lists a whale as missing for one year from the last sighting before listing it a 'presumed dead.' These whales never leave their families their entire lives, so when one goes missing ... however there have been two different times when a young whale had been located...so keep the 'Faith' and we'll keep hoping.

Hi Rebecca, yes Faith L-57 is gone. He was last seen in November 2008 and did not return in 2009. His memory will live on in the images people have taken of this most majestic whale.
