Oystercatchers are odd in appearance. They are all black except for their yellow feet and bright orange beaks. They live on the shores of Unalaska Island, feeding among the rocks in the tideland areas and in the shallows of the bays. They live on Unalaska Island all year long and they are a common sight in the Captain's Bay area of the island. The oystercatcher can dive and swim, but it doesn't spend much time in the water unless it is feeding.
