POKER DOGS: A BOLD BLUFF: In 1903 C. M. Coolidge was commissioned to produce 16 paintings for the advertising firm of Brown & Bigelow. All the paintings in the series feature dogs performing human activities. His poker playing dogs are the most famous, but he also painted dogs on a commuter train and in a ballpark.
