Spoken by a deist, this quote confuses me. In fact, Jefferson was a *Christian* deist, and so the quote makes even less sense. Of course, he also espoused 'life and liberty' to all humans, and yet owned over 600 slaves during his life, freeing only 8 of them, I believe. So, his thought processes weren't always reliable. Apparently what he must have meant was something like "Religions are all alike, founded on mythology--except for my religion, which is true." Still, it's an interesting quote for all of these reasons.
