U.S. Marines: 1913 - Poster by bontongallery
By resolution of the Second Continental Congress on November 10, 1775 – celebrated as the date of the U.S. Marine Corps birthday - at Tun Tavern, Philadelphia, Captain Samuel Nichols formed the first two battalions of Continental Marines. The U.S. Marine Corps have since served with honour and distinction in every American armed conflict. This glorious recruitment poster, dated 1913, reflects a history that, by the numbers, predates the American Declaration of Independence. Unaltered and restored, this beautiful poster – with the original template 'enlist at' intact - will make a wonderful gift for any Marine or student of military history. While this is now being presented in the 'small' size, please, feel free to customise to the allowable size, your choice of matte, paper and framing to suit your personal space or tastes. Add photos, sentiments or the message of your choice. Zazzle makes it easy and fun!
