Vincent Van Gogh's Japonaiserie: Bridge In The Rain (After Hiroshige). This oil on canvas from 1887, originally painted by famous Japanese landscape printmaker Utagawa Hiroshige, depicts a view of Japanese people in daily life walking across a bridge during a rainstorm. Van Gogh made two copies of ukiyo-e, which means pictures of floating world, and refers to a genre of woodblock printing and painting flourished in Japan from 17th to 19th century.
