Has anyone ever assumed that prayer is some sort of magical wish fulfillment? No Christian, Muslim, or Jew that I know believes that. You're mocking a belief that no one holds.
Well, Wookiepooky, it's another of our thought-provoking designs. Of course, there is no god so said god can't answer prayers. I understand your argument though. If there is a god and all things emanate from his divine goodness, how can there be so much evil? Answer: god doesn't exist. :P
I assume, croad, that you don't believe in Zeus or Thor, as well as thousands of other gods that have been worshiped. Your god is no different. There is zero positive evidence done by credible scientists that find that prayer works. In fact, in the most recent study done on intercessory prayer, it found that people who knew they were being prayed for did worse.
Two hands working are better than a thousand clasped in prayer.
- but I think you're leaving yourself wide open for one of those who have spent their life coming up with powerful, albeit wrong, answers to your question.
I prefer the question: If all things are of God, our supposed celestial parent, why is there cancer, plague, terrorism, obscenely wealthy and dirt poor? Of course the clerics have answers for that old one too. Better to have believers prove the existence, which they can't. Good luck.
Be honest, brotherbock.
Sheeple pray because they want the easy way to get something for nothing. So yes, prayer is some form of magical wish fulfillment... that does not work or have any basis in reality. We are mocking a belief that the religious cling to.
Your denial of that belief doesn't make it any less pervasive.
