丸に一の角字
【まるにいちのかくじ】角字紋／これは「一」をあらわす。昔から「一」の文字は、瑞祥の第一で、カツとかハジメとか「一番乗り」とか、とかく武士にはめでたい文字。そこで、多くは家紋に採り入れた。（丹羽基二著「家紋百話上」）／角字とは文字を方形に図案化したもので、一定の太さと間隔の中に文字をうめて見た目にも均整のとれた美しさを与える。これが、紋帳には約二百三十種はある。江戸の中期にはすでに広まっていたらしいことは、古い紋帳に記載されていることからわかる。が、だれが案出したかは、はっきりしない。（同書Ｐ１１４）
