【ほうじょう うろこ】鱗紋／鎌倉初期北条時政が江の島・弁才天に参龍の際、大蛇の残した三片の鱗を入手したのを記念して、三つ鱗を旗に用いたと太平記に記されている（伊藤幸作編「日本の紋章」）／北条氏家紋とした三鱗について『太平記』・・によると、北条氏の三鱗形の紋は、龍の鱗に象っているものであるが、この鱗紋は菱紋と同じように鱗形の文様から転化したもので、これを神秘的にするために、このような伝説を付会したものであろう。（沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」）
