扇に月丸
【おうぎにつきまる】扇紋。佐竹扇ともいう。この呼称は沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」によった。ちなみに、伊藤幸作編「日本の紋章」では”月の丸扇”としている。なお、「平安紋鑑」「紋典」等は”日の丸扇”としている。／・・佐竹の「扇」は五本骨、円形で月を表すこころであった・・当時軍扇のつくりは、おもて紅の地に金で日、裏は銀で月をつけるのが法で、・・これが後代黒地に赤の”日”を表すなどで、”日の丸”への道をあけた、という見方が成り立つ。佐竹家が使ったのは、つまり裏方の旗紋のばあい赤地に白丸、家紋には、ただの円をもってしても”月の丸”とよませた（高橋賢一著「大名家の家紋」）
