【もっこう】横木瓜とも呼ばれ木瓜紋の中では最も多く用いられる／高澤等著「家紋の事典」では、酢漿草・木瓜・鷹の羽、丹羽基二著「姓氏・家紋の基礎知識」では、藤・木瓜・酢漿草、を三大家紋としている／文献１：木瓜紋はもと窠（くわ）と言って、支那から伝来し衣服の文様として行われ、それが簾（みす）の冐額（もっこう）の文様となり、その後恒例として用いられるようになって簾の冐額の紋と呼ばれ、遂には簾の文字が省かれて、冐額の紋と呼ばれ、これに木瓜の字をあてて一般にこれを用いることとなったのである。（窠は巣のことで、樹上にあるを巣と言うに対して、地上にあるを窠と呼んだ。文様に窠の字を用いたのは、窠の形状があたかも窠の卵を容れている形に似ているからである。）／文献２：木瓜は古く御簾の周囲にめぐらした布帛「帽額（もこう）」に付けられた文様が独立したもので、一般に木瓜（ぼけ）や胡瓜の切口を形どったとされるのは誤りである。
