Prima Ballerina; Rosita Mauri (aka The Star) (c 1876/1877) is a vintage impressionist fine art portrait painting featuring a ballerina (Rosita Mauri) taking a bow on stage after a ballet performance. Rosita Mauri was a dancer and ballet teacher, the daughter of a ballet master and choreographer, she began her dancing career in 1865 and went on to became one of Europe’s principal ballerinas. The Dance Class (1873-1876) is a vintage impressionist fine art painting featuring a classroom of ballerinas, ballet dancers and their dance teacher. Dancer with a Bouquet of Flowers (Star of the Ballet), 1878 (1878) by Edgar Degas is a vintage impressionist fine art portrait painting. A beautiful ballerina wearing a pink tutu dress and holding a bouquet of flowers as she takes a bow on stage after a ballet performance. About the artist: Edgar Degas (1834-1917) is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism although he preferred realism and to be called a realist. Degas is especially identified with the subject of ballet dance, and over half his works depict dancers.
