We see a flash of blue and we automatically look. Blue Jays are such beautiful birds. This is the Western Scrub Jay. Its colour is a much softer blue than the Stellar's Jay which is also common here in the Pacific Northwest. I see Stellar's frequently but not so much the Western Blue Jay. It was such a treat to see this one that I pulled over at a local mechanics shop, in Shelton, WA, and photographed it in the trees!
