Maru ni ichi no ji travel mug
The crest known as "Maru-ni-Ichi-no-ji" features a single character. The character was likely chosen for its clear strokes, making it easily identifiable, as well as its martial and auspicious connotations. According to "Reference Taiheiki," the single character was interpreted as "katakinashi," or invincible, which was likely a reason for its selection as a crest. The fact that many warriors of the Sengoku period used this character in their names, reading it as "katsu," or "to win," supports this interpretation. For example, Yamauchi Tsushima-no-kami's name was written as "Kazutoyo" but read as "Katsutoyo," and Takigawa Ichimasu's son, known as "Tokitaka," was read as "Katsutoki." The final product far exceeded my expectations when it arrived. It feels solid, looks impressive, and I love the style. It has a very solid lid which is still easy to remove and re fit. Looks great in the Stainless Steel and it was delivered on time and very well packaged. I have only one little niggle, and that is the logo background colour of black doesn't quite match the black that they company uses so you can see the slight difference is tones. It would have been great if these matched and to be honest, I am not sure if that is something I would have to do my end before uploading or if this could be sorted at the printing stage.
