A Sabbath for the Land Card
Once in seven years, we enter the Shmitah year, when we give the land a rest. Interesting that this is here during the pandemic. This card, which demands that we respect and care for the land as a living entity, pictures the seven fruits of Israel: Wheat, Barley, Grapevine, Fig, Pomegranate, Olive and Date. The little fox and the deer from the Song of Songs also make an appearance. The mood of the painting is peaceful, appropriate to a restful sabbath.
