About This Design

a water wheel travel mug

a water wheel travel mug

[Mizunisuisha] It is also referred to as Suisha-mon or Hishakuguruma-mon. It is a crest representing a water wheel. There are two types of water wheels: one with a board on a spoke and the other with a ladle on the circumference of the wheel. This is called a hishaku-guruma (a ladle with a ladle) by calling it to the place where the hishaku is attached. It is said that the crest was this Hishaku-guruma . In later years, however, since this ladle resembles the shape of a mallet, it is called a mallet by mistake, and it is intentionally made by imitating the shape of a mallet, so that the name is applied to the family crest of the world. However, the fact that it is not a mallet is seen in the old days of this monsho, not only does there exist those that depict the stitches of the ladle, but also there is a description in the section of the crest of the Doi clan in "Kansei Choshu Shokafu" that it is clearly indicated that it is the eight-ladle with a water wheel. The eight-ladle means a water wheel composed of eight ladles. (Source: Yorisuke NUMATA, "Nihon Monshogaku") / This design adds my interpretation to the drawing of "Mizuni Waterwheel" in the same book.

The final product far exceeded my expectations when it arrived. It feels solid, looks impressive, and I love the style. It has a very solid lid which is still easy to remove and re fit. Looks great in the Stainless Steel and it was delivered on time and very well packaged. I have only one little niggle, and that is the logo background colour of black doesn't quite match the black that they company uses so you can see the slight difference is tones. It would have been great if these matched and to be honest, I am not sure if that is something I would have to do my end before uploading or if this could be sorted at the printing stage.

It's the perfect size for a travel mug. A very good item and I know my son will love it. I'm delighted with how the photos and lettering came out on this item. I managed to get x4 photos on it rather than the usual one. I'm very pleased with this item.
