Sandro Botticelli about 1445 - 1510 The Adoration of the Kings about 1470-5 Tempera on poplar 30.8 x 130.8 cm The story of the 3 kings (or Magi) for Florence, had significant appeal so much that a confraternity of the Magi was attached to the church of San Marco. This painting was commissioned by the Pucci Family, who probably chose the subject of Adoration because the association of the magi with the Medici family.
