African American Aviators Fighter Pilots of WW2 Shot Glass

African American Aviators Fighter Pilots of WW2 Shot Glass

The 332nd Fighter Group, including the 99th Fighter Squadron, played a pivotal role in Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily in July 1943. This group, primarily composed of African American pilots, faced significant challenges due to racial segregation and discrimination. Despite these obstacles, they proved their exceptional skills and bravery in combat. - The 99th Fighter Squadron, flying P-40 Warhawk fighters, provided critical air support during the invasion. They successfully escorted bombers, conducted strafing runs, and engaged enemy aircraft. Their contributions were invaluable to the success of the operation. - The achievements of these African American pilots were groundbreaking. They shattered racial stereotypes, demonstrated their capabilities as skilled aviators, and paved the way for the integration of the U.S. military. Their legacy continues to inspire and empower future generations of Black Americans to pursue careers in the military and other fields. - The success of the 332nd Fighter Group and the 99th Fighter Squadron had a profound impact on the experiences of Black Americans in the military. It challenged the prevailing notion that African Americans were not capable of serving in combat roles. Their accomplishments opened doors for future generations of Black Americans to serve in various roles within the military, including combat positions. - WPA image in Public Domain.

Awful. They both arrived broken. Packaging was poor. Terrible with lines going through the image.

It is nice to be able get shot glasses with the names of places you have been too but didn’t manage to get a glass why you were there. Also the option of creating your own place souvenir by using a glass with the national flag or map and adding a place name that would never normally be credited with its own souvenir is good. The only thing I am not so keen on is the size of the glass. They are larger than your average European shot glass by a third so take up more space in the display shelving and requires the shelves to be further apart. The service is quick and the items usually arrive in the UK in about a week.
