Alexander and Porus Poster
This is a reproduction of “Alexander and Porus” of 1673 by Charles le Brun. This painting depicts the meeting of the Macedonian general king and the Indian king Porus whom he had just defeated in his last battle at the Hydaspes. This is one of several Alexander paintings created by Le Brun who sought to compare the reign of Alexander with that of his patron Louis XIV. Le Brun dominated French art of the Seventeenth Century and was alled by Louis XIV “the greatest French artist of all time”. His fame engendered many followers, one of which painted this magnificent mythology work depicting the anger of the Greek and Roman Sea God who was famously jealous of proper sacrifices and honours by those who sailed upon the Deep. His work was very popular and he died in Kampen in 1634.

I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame.
This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again.
One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up.
Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font.
Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
