Allée of Chestnut Trees (Allée de châtaigniers), painted by Alfred Sisley in 1878, shows a curving riverside path lined with flowering chestnut trees beside the Seine. A horse-drawn cart and a few figures animate the sunny promenade, while the pale blue sky and fresh greenery give the scene a light spring atmosphere. This Impressionist oil on canvas is held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
