Ancient Egyptian Message Scarabs

Ancient Egyptian Message Scarabs

Ancient Egyptian Royal Pharaohs and Queens 4000 years ago sent their most important messages or announcements by having them carved into the bottoms of carved stone scarab beetles to be carried to the kings in neighbouring countries. In Ancient Egypt the male scarab dung beetle would roll fresh dung into a spherical ball in straight line away from a dung pile followed by the female and then bury it into the Nile mud after the female impregnated it with her eggs fertilised by the male. Thus, Ancient Egyptians compared the dung ball being rolled to the Sun God Re being a great sphere rolling across the sky by the God Khepera (Khepri) the God of Rebirth of a new day. The scarab shown here shows the dung ball slash Sun God Re and the dung beetle scarab wings spread out also as worn as an amulate giving power of rebirth to the dead Pharaoh's mummy. Thus, the SCARAB signifies REBIRTH or RENEWAL, a NEW DAY, and MESSAGE of HOPE.
