Animals Sharing a Bowl of Milk,

Animals Sharing a Bowl of Milk,

Vintage artwork by William Henry Hamilton Trood features a scene outside the doorway of a home where a group of pets has gathered to share a large saucer of milk. Puppies and kittens put aside their differences to fill their bellies with milk. The mama dog and mama cat are nearby keeping an eye on things to make sure their offspring each get their share. Also in the picture are some cute baby chicks and ducklings. The English artist and sculptor, William Henry Hamilton Trood (1848-1899) loved animals, and especially dogs. He once owned so many dogs that were kept in his backyard that his neighbours complained of the noise. He then kept his dogs inside, along with a fox, an otter and a badger which all were able to run loose in his home. Dog portraits became popular at the time that Queen Victoria had portraits painted of many of her 70+ dogs which she owned near the end of her life. Trood had an extremely successful career painting portraits of pet dogs for clients. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy and elsewhere. This card is blank inside for your own message.

Looked great and was perfect for my Nana's 99th it arrived super quick so much quicker than sending the original from the other side of the world! My Nan loved my artwork too and the picture of us inside helped her remember who I was as she has Alzheimer's. Crisp and clear. Bright and colorful true to the original artwork I created. The photo we placed inside also looked great and clear.

This was used as a Mother's Day card and my mother absolutely loved it! The artwork and attention to detail is stunning. It's as if the hare could jump right out of the card at any moment. The print quality and colours are of a very high standard and show the beautiful hare in commendable detail.
