"[Louis de France, Dauphin (1729-1765), son of Louis XV, father of Louis XVI]. L’Office de la Semaine sante Dedié a la Reine, pour l’usage de sa Maison. Paris, Jean-Baptiste Garnier, 1752. 8vo. (4), XLVIII, 852 pp. Black morocco binding by Dubuisson for the Dauphin, Louis de France. Covers richly gilt with framing plate-stamp and several individual stamps. Splendid binding by Pierre-Paul Dubuisson, successor to Antoine-Michel Padeloup as “Relieur du Roi”, for the 23-year-old Dauphin. In its immaculate beauty and abundance, the large framing plate-stamp used by Dubuisson for this present binding constitutes “a model of decorative design in the Louis XV style, with all the allurements and hyperboles of Rocaille” (cf. Fürstenberg, in v. Arnim).
