Antique Map of Germany c. 1657 Poster
This is a remarkable example of Jan Jansson's 1657 mapping of Germany in antiquity. Depicts a richly forested region covering from Gaul to Dacia and from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea. Cartographically this map exhibits heavy influence from a very similar map of the same name published by A. Ortelius in his 1597 Parergon . Based on Greek and Roman sources including Pliny, Strabo, Virgil, Ceasar, and others. Ships and monsters decorate the seas. A decorative title cartouche depicting curious warlike figures in animal skins appears in the lower right quadrant. A second cartouche appears in the lower left. This remarkable map was published in volume six, the Orbis Antiquus , of Jan Jansson's Novus Atlas . This image (or other media file) is in the public domain because its copyright has expired.

I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame.
This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again.
One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up.
Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font.
Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
