The Arena of Pula is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world and stands as the most magnificent monument to ancient history in Istria. Constructed in the 1st century AD during the reign of Emperor Augustus and later expanded by Emperor Vespasian, this grand limestone structure once hosted fierce gladiatorial combats and could hold up to 23,000 spectators. Today, it remains entirely unique as the only remaining Roman amphitheatre to have all four side towers and all three Roman architectural orders entirely intact.
