Boy are those Armenian women tough! "Woman of Sasun" (Sasuntsi Kin) depicts a woman breastfeeding her baby as she watches over a mountain pass from her sniper's perch. Painted by Arshak Fetvadjian following World War One as an allegory of the newly independant Armenia, the child represents the nation, and the mother the people who will both defend and nurture the infant republic. For this reason, the painting is also known as "The Infant Armenia." Choose your print with or without the title and artist's name, available in English or Armenian!
