Art Deco Tropical Night - Magnet

Eugène Alain Séguy, 1890-1985, was a French entomologist who specialised in Diptera. He held a chair of entomology at the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris from 1956 -1960. Seguy was active predominantly in Paris between 1900 until the early 30s. From the turn of the 20th century through the 1920s, the French designer and author created a wondrous collection of colourful illustrations inspired by the natural world. His work was originally designed for textiles and wallpaper. Large blue and tan leaves and bright orange flowers against a black background remind me of a surreal tropical night.
