At the Rouge (At the Red Mill) by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, oil on canvas 1892-1895, is a painting of a smartly dressed group of revelers at the famous club for nightlife and gathering place of the artistic avant-garde in 19th century Paris, in Montmartre. Lautrec vividly paints the characteristics of the bohemian crowd and captures the lurid, acidic yellow-orange and lavender colours of the lighting in a composition of flattened forms, tilted perspective, and photographic cropping influenced by the older Impressionist painter, Degas.
