This white eyed flycatcher is also known as a white eyed vireo. This male bird is perched in a chinaberry tree (white cedar) with his sights set on an insect. The small bug sits just off to the lower right side, making it look like a real creepy crawly. What a conversation piece this will be! This is plate 63 of John James Audubon's Birds of America series. The simple design for this songbird and flowers makes it a classic.
